BACKROADS
The roads themselves: centerlines, caprock curves, and dirt tracks under big skies.
"Most of my photos happen because God led me down a road that took me there. This series is about those roads. Straight centerlines and curves winding through the canyon. Dirt roads cover the landscape in a grid, like the streets of Philadelphia, as if a city stood out here thousands of years ago. In the Panhandle a road is usually the only mark of a presence of man; the rest is the grace of God. These are shot the same way I found them; sometimes in daylight, sometimes lit by a full moon or with nothing but the truck's lights."
